Do I need a translator affidavit for my marriage certificate translation?

As part of the divorce proceedings in Australia, the Family Court needs to have evidence when and how the marriage was entered into.

When you are lodging your document in any Family Courts in Australia, if your marriage certificate is not in English, it must be translated by a NAATI certified translator a
nd the person who translates the certificate must complete an Affidavit Translation of Marriage Certificate and:

  • attach a copy of the marriage certificate

  • attach the translation of the marriage certificate

  • set out their qualifications to make the translation.

Don't worry! We can provide the required translator affidavit if you are lodging your document with the Family Court. The translation and affidavit will be prepared by Minghan with ample experience in marriage certificate translation services.

It’s easy and we have done it a hundred times. Acceptance by the authorities is guaranteed!

Translator Affidavit

What happens next?

You can send your marriage certificate by scanning or taking photos of them to our email address (info@mhtranslation.com.au).

And just tell us who is the applicant and who is the respondent for divorce proceedings. If you make a sole application, you are known as the applicant and the other party is known as the respondent;  for a joint application,
both parties are known as joint applicants.

Then the translation will be conducted by our NAATI translator and we will send a draft of the translation via email for you to approve. You can check the translation to ensure that everything is correct.

As soon as you have approved it, we will prepare the translator affidavit for you and later get it signed with a JP as witness.

Following completion of the translation and the affidavit, we will send the final electronic copy
(the e-copy will include the translator's NAATI stamp, certification and signature) to your email and you can submit it to the family court.
