Overseas licence holders on a temporary visa who are residents of NSW prior to 1 July 2023 can continue to drive on their overseas licence as long as it remains current. They would not be required to meet the new requirements. For more information, click here. For permanent visa holders: If you're an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or if you hold a New Zealand driver licence, you're able to drive in NSW on an overseas licence for 3 months. Within this 3-month period however, you'll need to visit a Service NSW Centre and transfer your overseas licence to a NSW Driver Licence. For more information, click here. NOTE: You cannot use NAATI translation if you want to apply for an Australian licence in New South Wales.
